Dr. David McCabe is part of the Roper St. Francis Physician Partners General Surgery team. He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency at the Ochsner Medical Center. While earning his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia, Dr. McCabe had the opportunity to volunteer as a Spanish interpreter in a pediatric clinic for an underserved migrant community. Witnessing the life-changing role physicians played in their patient's lives inspired him to pursue medicine. Seeing the immediate, tangible impact surgeons have on patients' lives drew him to general surgery during medical school. Dr. McCabe’s approach to medicine is personalized, honest and compassionate. He loves being a surgeon simply because he wants to help people feel better and is happy to be working for a not-for-profit healthcare system where people come before profits. On his days off, and when he isn’t tending to his two big dogs, Dr. McCabe likes being near the water. He also plays the occasional round of golf and enjoys a tennis match with his wife.
